I haven’t done an entry like this in a minute. I think this is number 4, but maybe not. I might go back and double check, but here goes anyway. My birthday is coming up in a little over 10 days (April 27th) and I have a few ideas of things that I want to do, but I am not 100% sure yet. It doesn’t seem like it but, I started this blog 4 years ago in February 05’. And over that time, I have met some very nice people via my blog. I have met a few people that I consider true friends that I have met in person. There are some I consider “internet” friends, where there has become regular dialogue and concern for their well being, but have not met in person. As with regular life I have also met some flakey people via the internet and my blog in particular. What’s up folks! I took a short break from writing as I got real busy with my business event in Vegas. The event went well, but no real good stories to share. I didn’t win any money gambling and for the first time visiting there I didn’t get laid. I know, I know, poor me. lol I did get to take my mom on the trip as a graduation / birthday present. My mom went back to school and got her degree and I told her I would bring her to Vegas as her present. She ended up having a great time and won a few hundred dollars on the slot machines. Since this trip was a bit boring, I have to share with you what happened last year in Vegas. There are two parts to this story. The story as it was unveiled in front of me and some pieces of the puzzle that were unveiled to me a full year later when I was on my trip to San Diego.

I have two business partners, one here in GA with me that is married and one in Cali that is divorced. Here is a question that was asked in response to a post I just made (Are you afraid to share?) .

Personally, I find it very hard to share only one desire with my significant other.. That desire is to be with a woman and actually we could do participate in it as a 3 some. There are a couple of things that need to be addressed before I give suggestions. One thing I want you to reflect on and ask yourself (I think we all need to do this). If the person you are with is really the one will they really judge you if you share your most intimate desires? A person that truly cares about you is not going to change their thoughts of you as a person because of the sexual desires you have. Now, that is not saying that person has to want to try it or agree with it. Everyone has their own thoughts, desires and boundaries.

In one of my recent blogs one of my readers mentioned in her comment something I have always believed. We don’t trust the people we are with in relationships enough in most cases to share with them our most intimate sexual desires or fantasies.

The thing that dooms us from being completely open is that we get so caught up presenting our good girl / good boy persona. We try to prove we are good upstanding citizens and / or Christians (or other religion) in order to attract a person into a serious or meaningful relationship. Then when it comes to sharing that sexual side completely we feel like the two are in conflict with each other. Yes, guys have it easier than ladies when it comes to being able to be open about fantasies, but guys get it to. A guy has to be very careful what he shares with a woman cause she will pull the same card as a guy will if the shit seems to be a little too much for them.

I personally think one of the biggest dysfunctions the church plays in our lives is when it comes to communicating about sex. The Church tries so hard to make sex a bad thing so the young and unmarried won’t do it, that when a person is a consenting adult, married or single; they have a hard time being comfortable with their own desires because they have heard from day one that sex is a bad thing. Now think about that person having to share those desires with someone they care about. The risk becomes too great for them to share their deepest darkest desires.

Ladies, can we please talk? This is getting to be a bit much. This was on Oprah last season and I was reading an article that discussed the issue yesterday. What am I talking about? Glad you asked. This “grave” statistic that says 42.4% of black women have never been married.

Why would I have an issue with this statistic? Because the way the statistic is presented doesn’t in itself tell any meaningful story, yet when I have seen the percentage mentioned, it makes it seem like a black woman doesn’t have a snow ball chance in hell to get married to a black man. Does this mean that 42.4% of black women will never get married? No it does not. In fact the US Census says that by the time a black woman reaches the age of 50 that number drops to 14.6%. Which means the vast majority of black women will eventually be married. When you leave the first statistic out there to stand on it’s on, it gives a false impression that all black men are in prison, there are no good black men left to marry and one of the most tired statistics that black women consistently put out there: the 1 black man to 8 black women ratio.

Am I saying there are no issues in the black community regarding dating and marriage? Of course not, but at the same time there are statistics that are being presented that do not tell the whole story or give a clear picture of what the case really is.

Let’s truly look at some of the US Census numbers and put some things into perspective. When I first heard the 42.4% number of black women that have never been married, one of the first things that came to my mind was how many black men have never been married? The way the numbers are presented its like there is this huge number of black women out there single and black men are either off marrying white women or in jail. It would seem that 42.4% of black women are just shit out of luck when it comes to their chances of being married.
