For those that don’ know, I am a Morehouse Alum. I love my alma mater dearly and when I heard this news I had to spread the word. For the record, Dr. Massey is also a graduate of Morehouse, he wasn’t just the past President he was a product of the school itself. This is a HUGE deal. To be Chairman of one of the largest banks in the world even in these economic times wields a lot of power and influence. Here is the article for those that didn’t hear about it. Much love Dear Ole Morehouse!
Morehouse College president emeritus Walter E. Massey has been named chairman of Bank of America, the nation’s second largest commercial bank.
The announcement came Wednesday after shareholders voted to create an independent chairman, ousting former chair Ken Lewis and leaving him as president and chief executive officer.
Massey, 71, was president of the Atlanta-based college from August 1995 to June 2007, and was a director on the BankAmerica Corp. board from 1993 to 1998.
His ascension to Bank of America’s chair came as Lewis’ responsibilities were reduced by a slim margin by the board. The vote was 50.3 percent in favor of creating the new independent chair, with 49.7 percent opposed, bank officials said.
Massey wasn’t immediately available for comment.

Got into Vegas late on Thursday night. We had one of our preliminary meetings at our host hotel / casino. Our flight got delayed when we had a layover in Dallas, so our partner from Cali had to host it solo. That meeting went well and the expensive ass food the hotel charged us for seemed to go over very nicely. So the trip got off to a great start.
Friday
We tied up most of our loose ends on Friday and had a preliminary event that our staff ran for us. It seemed to go on without a hitch. We were running around most of the day and actually didn’t spend much time at that venue.
We had our official event launch at a sponsor restaurant and had about 300 people there. It was a great turn out and there was a buzz going on with all the excitement about the next couple of days in Vegas. We handled a few last minute questions and dealt with all of our registrations. Ended up meeting a very sexy female there that was hanging out with some friends. I will talk about her more later in the entry.

Just giving a quick business update. Our Atlanta event had a few snags where we had some groups that pulled out at the last minute, but we made it work with what we had. The groups that attended were a little disappointed in the turnout, but were pleased at the end. The following weekend we had an event in Bakersfield, CA and Baton Rouge, LA. Both events had a great turn out. This was a great way to end the physical year and lead into the first part of 06’, which is one of our busiest times of year.
Our next big event is in Vegas the second weekend in January and the registrations are coming in like crazy. This thing is really starting to heat up. Not to mention we have gotten 4 sponsors on board that we hope to spring board into bigger and better things as the year progresses. Our largest event of the year will be the following event after Vegas and that will be in Dallas the second weekend in March. The momentum for that is picking up and if Vegas continues to look the way it is, Dallas will be incredible.
The great thing about all of this is that if we can pull off all the logistics for both, it will catapult us big time in our industry and we will pick up a lot of the people that are just looking to see if we are for real or not. Not too mention more sponsors, which is where we will ultimately make the most revenue. We still have a lot of people that are talking about the buzz we are making, but they are on the sidelines just watching as we take off. Some people are so resistant to change, even if they are receiving a bad product or service.
Keep us in your prayers.

For some reason my ass is not suppose to get to California anytime soon. I should be on a plane right now headed to San Diego. Instead I am here at my house typing in my blog in a t-shirt and boxer briefs. I am here for two reasons; one is that our San Diego event didn’t turn out to have as many registrations as we thought. So it was just smart for me to stay here instead of spending the money to fly, get a hotel and rental car. Our business associate that is in Cali can handle the number of registrations we had solo, so no big deal. Other than I wanted to go chill on the beach and hangout. Secondly my business partner buried his grandfather today and I wanted to show some support. That explains the t-shirt and boxer briefs. I just got in from the funeral and got directly out of my suit.

What can I say. Kansas City was ummmm, KC. We did not spend a lot of time out and about because it was a business trip, but what I did see of the city didn’t make me want to go out and paint the town. The city seemed a bit old and didn’t have a lot of new construction going on, but it wasn’t bad. I have to say I didn’t see one sister there that I was like “damn”. Not once did I even think of getting a number.
But the people were nice. We ended up getting fed real well at this cookout at the park. Ribs, chicken, dogs, burgers, pasta, cole slaw, peach cobbler. Those people at the park were great. I think the funniest shit to happen was one of the guys that was having the cookout came over to talk to us after we had been chilling for a few. He had a few beers in him and I am not sure how we got on this subject. But, he was like yea man I can feel my girl being pissed off at me right now, I don’t know what it is, but she mad about something I can tell. Then he points her out, he said there she is, the black one in red (and she was deep Africa black, no offense because I love me a chocolate sister. But she was blue black). He then continued to say, I like me an ugly woman and caught himself. Well she not ugly, but when you have a ugly woman, you can always have some pretty ones on the side. lol This fool blasted his girl about being ugly and it was just like damn no he didn’t. lol But, I have to give him credit, she was ugly as hell. He called a spade a spade.

Heading to DC for an event my company is hosting in a couple of hours. Been pretty busy the last few days. Haven’t put up any major post. Have a couple of juicee things to write about, just haven’t sat down to do it. Have to write about my perspective of what happened with me and my sub. One of the experiences she wrote about already and one nothing has been written about. In the last one, we were able to get the YM in my subs ass. Neither one of us could believe it, but its all she has been talking about since then. She LOVED it. Nothing really major going on, just busy. Going to Kansas City next week. Will be my first trip there, if anyone can suggest any spots to check out there, feel free to let me know. Saw a guy I went to college with a few weeks ago that lives there now and all he talked about were all the black guys dating white girls up there. That’s not my cup of tea, so should be interesting. Well, I have to finish packing and go meet my business partner. Everybody have a great weekend.

Things have been moving in the right direction for the business. We have the second have of the year packed with events. Starting this weekend its going to be an interesting ride. Things will start to pick up and it will give us a clearer picture if we are really heading in the right direction.
We have an event in Charlotte this weekend, California next weekend, Atlanta the weekend after that, DC the last weekend in July. Kansas City the first weekend in August.
Wow just looked at our calendar to verify the dates; we have an event scheduled every weekend until the Third week in September. Damn. Now luckily we don’t have to be present for all of them. We have reps in some cities that will host it without us but the ones I mentioned we will be at in person. Our organization’s presence will be felt in Richmond, VA, Salt Lake City, UT, back to Charlotte, San Diego, CA and then Chicago.
So things are progressing nicely. All the good people of the Church say amen and keep lifting a brother up. It’s greatly appreciated.
Not only that, got some great / bad news all in one. We found out that one of our competitors on the West Coast just passed. We didn’t even know he had been ill. But, he apparently had been fighting cancer. Now he is not one of the people I had blasted before. Didn’t really know much about this guy. But, because of this situation our guy in Cali has been getting calls left and right about us doing things in place of what he was doing.
We hope that his family is ok and that he rests in peace. But, we had already seen the West Coast open up to us, now its going to be very very interesting.
We just got word of it last night, but I came up with the idea of us having a memorial event for him. Donating some proceeds either to his family or a charity in his name. So anyway, that’s the latest and greatest on the business front.
Oh we have been hearing about our biggest competitor here on the East Coast, the guy up in Cleveland. He is shaking in his boots. His overhead is way too high and he can’t really match what we are doing so he is calling people (who turn around and call us) asking them what he should do. lol Too funny.

Business Update 6/5/05
Well, we signed the contract and got our first check for selling part of the business. We were able to keep the amount where we wanted, but the payments are spread a little more than we wanted, but it’s a done deal now.
It’s a relief to have it done as well as exciting to be moving on to some bigger better things. America is a great country. lol We are selling this piece of the business and the new business owner is coming under our newly created National organization. So guess what! We will still be getting paid from the Atlanta market directly. Business can be so beautiful sometimes.

Haven’t really done a business update in a minute. We haven’t turned the corner yet, but it’s getting closer. lol We have decided to sell part of our business. Which is kind of interesting considering I mentioned in a previous blog how we thought about selling this part of the business before, but how it was helping us with our current expansion. Well, how sweet is this? We will sell part of our business, which is mainly local, but it will free us up to do more things on a national level and we will still have a direct hand on what is going on here in Atlanta without the headaches. Not to mention we will double what we initially bought the business for in less than two years.
It’s kind of a slick, move, but a good one for both parties involved. The gentleman that is buying this part of our business had initially wanted to come in and be kind of the GM anyway. Just so happened when me and my business partner discussed selling, I gave him a call to see where he was and to put out a feeler. He couldn’t believe it and its been on every since.

Today was a good day business wise, as we have seen two good business alliances blossom and begin to put pressure on one of our competitors. Business can be real funny especially when you have competitors in your market that can be cut throat.
My business promotes amateur athletics, both youth and adult regardless of the sports. We also throw about 3 large tournaments a year that attract quite a few teams from around the country. The tournaments we throw are adult flag football tournaments. One of our competitors here locally, has several tournaments a year but is never able to attract the same teams that we do. We are able to attract the top competition in the country and he is only able to get teams from the Atlanta area. In addition to him, there is a guy out of Ohio that feels he has a monopoly on the sport because he runs a huge national tournament in Orlando every year. He has attempted to branch out and make his organization a true player Nationally. But, he always screws the people he works with. He had our competitor in Atlanta host an event that lasted two days, plus all the work leading up to it, and paid the guy $100. You talking about a slap in the face.
