Well, I am sure you guys are like me and got several emails talking about Jamie Foxx’s show that came on NBC. I don’t have a problem with people wanting to show him some love. I think it’s great that we support each other.
Jamie Foxx is a very talented man. I give him many props for his comedy and his acting. He even plays the piano well. HOWEVER, Jamie Foxx’s singing voice can not. I repeat, Can NOT carry an Album or a 1-hour TV special for that matter. The show was somewhat entertaining. There were plenty of sexy ladies on stage and in the audience. The problem is, Jamie has an average singing voice.
The lyrics on the songs were pretty good for the most part. But Jamie does not have any singing range and there is nothing dynamic about his voice. He can pull off the singing the hook for the Gold-digger Song and the other couple of hooks he sings on. However, most people that sing hooks on songs are not the leads on Albums. Nate Dogg is one of the best ever singing hooks for West Coast rap songs. But, his albums usually suck big time. For all the talk that went around in the emails about NBC not promoting this show, this show is lucky to be on one of the big 4 networks. Now the show was done tastefully. But again, Jamie as the lead singer for an hour show shouldn’t have happened.
Jamie I will say once again, you are a very talented man. But, stick to the comedy and the acting. You do very well doing those things. The singing isn’t cutting it. Keep making your millions doing what you do. No need to branch out into the music biz.
I have one thing to say, Jamie Foxx singing in a one hour made for TV special can only be one thing: THAT’S THAT BULL SHIT. lol

I think Jamie has a nice voice. There are plenty of entertainers out now that dont have voices like some of our great singer, but they are still entertaining and produce great music that we love listening to. I bought his first CD and this last one, and love them both. The tv special wasn’t all that great but for me it wasn’t because of his singing voice. But anyway that is my opinion.

I am usually with you, but I have to disagree. Jamie Foxx is a very talented brother. His voice may not be the strongest, but in a time when EVERYBODY sounds the same, it’s refreshing to hear a person that makes good music. I have his first cd and still to this day I will play it for a woman and she will be like who is that,I like it. Infatuation is on the Ipod now under baby makin music! lol
Jamie Foxx is nice and the last song Wish You Were Here is awesome.

I too have to disagree with you… Have you really listened to his cd… “Do what it do” that is one of my favorites but I can listen to his cd from beginning to end and love every minute of it.. As a matter of a fact I was at the gas station and I was playing his cd and 3 people walked up to me saying “Who is that?” “Is that Jamie?”. So I think you may need to listen to the cd a few more times so you can appreciate his voice and style. And ladies if you have the cd did you see the poster… All I have to say is “Hmmm hmm hmm sexy!!!”

I’m following the trend of disgreement I think Jaime Foxx has a nice singing voice, and his special was definitely entertaining. With people like Akon and T-Pain out there singing Jaime Foxx is definitely not as bad as you described.

That’s what makes the world go round. People having different opinions. But, if there has to be an example given of Akon and T-pain to make Jamie’s voice stand out that says alot. Those two don’t even register as far as singing talent goes. Just for clarity, I said Jamie is very talented. But, there is nothing dynamic about his voice. Especially to be featured in a show or an album. You guys continue to enjoy his album. Last time I checked I don’t think he was even close to winning any awards for his singing or even getting any critical acclaim for his singing. Or let’s take it a step further, record sales for Jamie are not making people take notice. That speaks volumes.

FGM, no one cares about “critical acclaim” these days. Jamie is selling albums. That’s the only acclaim that truly matters. Besides, don’t hate on that man- he’s just a freak like you! Just listen to the words of the song “Do What It Do”.
Taureanqueen29- I am with you girl. Jamie is toooo fine. Did you see how CLEAN his hair cut was on the show?! I want to know who his barber is…Then the little drops of sweat at his temple as he was singing…just makes a girl get hot and bothered.

I’m torn in my feellings about the Jamie Foxx Music Special that was aired the other night. I agree that the special was not all that it could have been. If I am being honest…it was a disappointment. That said, I believe that Jamie foxx is an EXTREMELY talented singer…Yes, singer! I have been a fan of his since his first album that he released in ‘90 or ‘91. I have since been impatiently waiting for him to drop his latest cd. This cd is a breath of fresh air in an industry that has truly become stagnant and repetative. I agree with Taureanqueen29 that “Do What It Do” is one of the hottest songs on the album. I think once Jamie gets comfortable in his new role as a singer, he will rock it just as he has rocked all the other roles he has taken on. Just give him a llittle time to adjust. He just needs to learn all that goes into giving a good show/performance and he’ll be fine.

His lyrics are juvenile. I have his album and was highly disappointed in it b/c of the lyrics. Im also disappointed at how badly he’s dumbed his voice down just to ‘fit.’ He’s so busy riding the Ray Charles train that he’s not using his voice to its greatest potential.

Ok, I have agreed with everything you have said, until now. I love Jamie’s voice. I don’t think that the television special showed what he can really do. I also feel like he couldn’t perform some of his better songs on that special b/c of the sexual content. But that was definetly not That Bullshit. Have you even listened to the cd, or just watched the special??

I must say that although I was a little disappointed with Jamie’s lastest CD “Unpredictable”, It is definitely not a true representation of his vocal skills. I still own his first CD “Peep This” (1994) which is alot better than the last one. Uptempo number are not his forte. He needs to stick to the ballads.
