Business Update 7/8/05

Things have been moving in the right direction for the business. We have the second have of the year packed with events. Starting this weekend its going to be an interesting ride. Things will start to pick up and it will give us a clearer picture if we are really heading in the right direction.

We have an event in Charlotte this weekend, California next weekend, Atlanta the weekend after that, DC the last weekend in July. Kansas City the first weekend in August.

Wow just looked at our calendar to verify the dates; we have an event scheduled every weekend until the Third week in September. Damn. Now luckily we don’t have to be present for all of them. We have reps in some cities that will host it without us but the ones I mentioned we will be at in person. Our organization’s presence will be felt in Richmond, VA, Salt Lake City, UT, back to Charlotte, San Diego, CA and then Chicago.

So things are progressing nicely. All the good people of the Church say amen and keep lifting a brother up. It’s greatly appreciated.

Not only that, got some great / bad news all in one. We found out that one of our competitors on the West Coast just passed. We didn’t even know he had been ill. But, he apparently had been fighting cancer. Now he is not one of the people I had blasted before. Didn’t really know much about this guy. But, because of this situation our guy in Cali has been getting calls left and right about us doing things in place of what he was doing.

We hope that his family is ok and that he rests in peace. But, we had already seen the West Coast open up to us, now its going to be very very interesting.

We just got word of it last night, but I came up with the idea of us having a memorial event for him. Donating some proceeds either to his family or a charity in his name. So anyway, that’s the latest and greatest on the business front.

Oh we have been hearing about our biggest competitor here on the East Coast, the guy up in Cleveland. He is shaking in his boots. His overhead is way too high and he can’t really match what we are doing so he is calling people (who turn around and call us) asking them what he should do. lol Too funny.

  1. How would you describe success for you and your company?

Must be an incredible feeling to have things rollin’ in the right direction. How long has it taken you to get to this point? What are your expectations for the next couple of years?

  2. Success for me and the business is being able to attain the short and long term goals that we / I have set. More specifically in business, we were recently considered the 3rd largest in our field. So obviously being number one in size, but more importantly having our consumer base appreciate what we are doing first and formost.

Being able to do things I would like to do when I want to do is a sign of success for me. Whether it be business or personal.

It is rewarding seeing things come together. We are not where we can be. So we have a long fight ahead. Things are falling into place and as they say, things are looking good on paper. We have to take things from paper to reality at this point. We have been at it for two years. In that time we have purchased and sold a part of the business. Put one aspect of the organization on hold. Expanded to a national organization for one part of the business. Created a whole new event/product. That we hope to make a national event.

Our biggest expectation in the next two years is to trully be a National organzation and be in minimum of 40 states. Right now we are in 15 to 18 or so. Have the second part of our events series a national entity. Start back up our print side of our business and have it franchised in 2 to 3 cities.
